美国鸟类海报欣赏

美国的鸟类海报种类繁多，设计考究，印刷精美，先介绍一下国际迁徙鸟类日海报。

这里的国际迁徙鸟类日International Migratory Bird Day是主要集中在美洲的一个重要活动，和Simba说的那个国际鸟盟发起的全球性活动不太一样。他们设计的海报比较有特色，发出来给大家欣赏一下。不知道有没有版权纠纷呢，否则印在观察上肯定好看,也可以让更多的人学习。他们很少用照片，都是绘画作品，这样发挥创作的自由度比较大。

2005主题碰撞-为鸟清除旅途障碍Collision: Clearing the way for birds

很多鸟在迁徙过程中因为碰到电线，风力发电涡轮，汽车，玻璃等而死亡。

MIgratory birds fly hundreds and even thousands of miles between the places where they nest and raise young and their non-breeding homes. The flight can be dangerous, and a bird may face storms, predators, or a shortage of food on either end of the trip or at stopping sites in between. Birds have always faced these natural risks are are often able to withstand the challenges by traveling before or after a storm, by flying at night to avoid hungry predators, or by changing their diets. Today, new obstacles are challenging migratory birds, and they are often much more difficult to avoid.

The towers we need for our cell phones and pagers, the lines that bring us power, the cars and trucks that help us travel, sources of energy, such as wind turbines, and event the windows in our homes and office buildings create obstacles for birds in flight. Collisions with these obstacles may cause the death of one bird or, in the case of communication towers, tens of thousands of birds in a single incident. Biologists estimate that over one billion birds are killed each year from aerial collisions.

North America's Boreal Forest is a place of immense beauty and power. It encompasses about 1.5 billion acres (5.9 million squre kilometers) and stretches from Alaska across Canada to the Atlantic Ocean. The region includes one of the world's largest intact forests, dotted with lakes, rivers, and wetlands. Black spruce, white spruce, and a handful of other evergreen tree species thrive despite the severe winters and short growing season. More extensive than the Brazilian Amazon, the Boreal offers refuge to grizzly bear, caribou, wolverine, gray wolf, and a variety of other resident wildlife.

The region's importance, however, extends far beyond Canada and Alaska to the Lower 48, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Billions of birds of over 270 species migrate long distances from these locations to the Boreal where they nest and raise young in what is known as the Bird Nursery of the North.

Birds have long been indicators of envionmental change, sounding the alarm about the impacts of pesticides, polluted water, and the loss of contiguous forest. While IMBD continues to promote the joy of birds, it will also tackle a challenging, yet pertinent topic in 2007 - climate change.

The reactions of birds to weather have long been noted. For hundreds of years, farmers have used the arrivals of migratory birds to make decisions about planting crops. Changes in the movements of some species is just one indicator of the warming of the Earth's atmosphere. Today, as the rate of warming increases, scientists are exploring how climate change will affect birds and how we can reduce our impact.

In 2007, as many as 300,000 people will learn about climate change at IMBD events.

Migratory birds travel long distances between breeding and non-breeding sites throughout the Western Hemisphere. In 2008, IMBD will explore the birds that make these fantastic journeys, the habitats on which they depend, and the people who are important to the conservation of birds and their habitats along the way.

International Migratory Bird Day is officially celebrated on the second Saturday in May in the U.S. and Canada. While most events will take place on May 10, 2008, we encourage you to organize your program, event, or festival when it best suits you and the birds. IMBD materials are not dated and may be used year-round.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, IMBD is celebrated in the fall, when migratory birds have returned to non-breeding grounds. So no matter where you are in the Western Hemisphere, you might find an IMBD event near you!

The 2008 theme provides a wonderful opportunity to recognize the important habitats in your locale and the groups and individuals that contribute to their protection. Explore what each habitat offers migratory birds, whether it is a place to rest, a nesting site, or a winter home.

For centuries, the neo-tropical migrants in this picture have shuttled between winter homes in the tropical rainforest and nesting sites in our woodlands. Now their populations are plummeting. Why? Habitat destruction Down There? Up Here? Is your favorite songster in this flock? Each April, I listen anxiously to the dawn chorus for the return of my favorite, that world-class flutist, the Wood Thrush. Are silent springs forthcoming? Remember the canary in the coal mine?
