向马耳他的鸟类保护者致敬

国际鸟盟马耳他伙伴在阻止当地非法春季捕鸟的时候，三辆汽车遭到焚毁。对此国际鸟盟发表谴责。

马耳他的鸟类捕猎问题一直很严重，估计一时扭转还很困难。

不知道马耳他猎人的经济状况如何，禁猎对他们生活造成的影响也许不是一篇新闻所能涵盖的。

BirdLife International strongly condemns the arson attack on Sunday February 17, on three cars belonging to BirdLife Malta volunteers. The attack completely destroyed the three vehicles. Police have informed BirdLife Malta that the incident was most probably a criminal act. BirdLife regrets the ongoing conflict about spring hunting, over which Malta has recently been taken to the European Court of Justice. BirdLife hopes that Malta will soon accept the ‘rules of the game’ that apply in any EU Member State and which have been designed to ensure the sustainability of hunting.

Dr. Clairie Papazoglou, Head of the European Division of BirdLife International stated: “We strongly condemn this needless act of violence and offer as always our full support to our Maltese Partner. Spring hunting is not an option in the EU and we hope this will be accepted by everyone soon. BirdLife Malta has shown great commitment in their actions to stop spring hunting and renew the interest of the Maltese people in the beauty of migratory birds.” BirdLife calls on the Maltese government to urgently identify and bring to justice the responsible persons for this act and to declare the end of spring hunting once and for all.

马耳他这样的欧洲国家，就算在欧洲算是穷的，也和第三世界不可同日而语。捕鸟不会涉及到生计问题。

就我所知，马耳他、意大利、法国等地的猎人打猎都跟生计没有关系。那都是当地的传统，打小鸟做食物。我记得02年到法国西南部探一些鸟会的朋友，他们也说地方的鸟会和志愿者受过一些恐吓，也曾有过轻度的骚扰如汽车的窗户被打破等。我们到了一个农村的小饭店吃饭，他还说“把望远镜收起来吧，不想被人看到是看鸟的，免得麻烦”可见在欧洲做保护的事业，也不是想象那么容易的。

但就是因为不容易，不同地方的人才应该合作联手。

（有个笑话是法国的朋友告诉我的，有一次他们也要求英国的鸟友写信呼吁法国停止捕杀小鸟。其中有些英国的老军人写了一句“当年打德国佬又不见他们那么勇敢....”这一句，当然不能刊出来.....）
