马来西亚的春季猛禽迁徙普查
Dear all,
The Raptor Study Group (RSG) of Malaysian Nature Study-Bird Conservation Council (MNS-BCC) recently completed the first full season monitoring of spring raptor migration in Malaysia. For 65 days, from 14 Feb to 19 April 2009, some 40 volunteers counted raptors as they arrived at Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado) lighthouse (2ー 24'N, 101ー 51'E), West Malaysia after crossing the Straits of Malacca from Rupat Island Sumatra, where a joint MNS-Raptor Indonesia team of counters was stationed. A team of researchers from Japan was also monitoring raptors at the Tanjung Tuan site.
About 38,000 migratory raptors, consisting mainly Oriental Honey-buzzard, were counted during this ground-breaking effort, in continuation of the annual spring counts conducted by MNS since 2000. Other species observed were Black Baza, Chinese Sparrowhawk, Japanese Sparrowhawk, Grey-faced Buzzard, Common Buzzard, Osprey, Eastern Marsh Harrier, Booted Eagle, Black Kite and Peregrine Falcon.
